Dr. Michael Coffman, CEO of Sovereignty International, author of Saviors of the Earth, and other books, reported on his participation in the World summit on Sustainable Development, in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he introduced "Freedom 21: Alternative to Agenda 21". A revised draft of the document will be available for attendees. Dr. Coffman covered in-depth where our liberties came from in America. He established there is a clash of worldviews in regards to liberty vs. social control by government intities. John Locke stated "The purpose of Government is to join together, to unite for the mutual preservation of their lives, liberties, and estate, which I call by the general name property. The great and chief end of men uniting together into commonwealths, and putting themselves under government, is the preservation of their property."
Thomas Jefferson called Locke's ideas the "People's Law" based on God given inalienable rights. The call for a more efficient federal government is misguided. The only truly efficient government is one that has total control over the people. Constitutionally the local government is to have the most sway in our lives followed by the State, and lastly the federal.
The opposing worldview is defined by Jean Jacques Rousseau in the 1800's. "Government is guided by the general will" The state or government defines what the citizens rights and liberties are. The government becomes all-powerful. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Rousseau's ideas have become dogma. The state should control all property -communism- there are no rights to private property.
Thomas Jefferson further noted: "When all power resides in Washington, the checks and balances will be lost and government will become as oppressive as those we separated from."
